Salary: £31,293 per annum

This post is fixed term and full time.

We need an experienced caseworker to support Caroline in her work as Green Party MP for Brighton Pavilion. You will be the only case worker in a small team and be responsible for managing a busy case load.

You will need excellent organisational and communication skills, be flexible and calm under pressure, and you should have a strong understanding of the main issues facing constituents in Brighton.

You do not need to be a member of the Green Party.

Job Title: Senior Caseworker 

Working For: Caroline Lucas MP (Brighton Pavilion) 

Location: Brighton Pavilion constituency 

Salary: The post is 37.5 hours per week and the annual salary is £31,293

 

Overview of the role:

Provide advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues through liaison with Government agencies, the voluntary sector and others to resolve matters.

Provide information, advice and support for individuals on a range of financial, health, housing and other issues.

Liaise with the appropriate Government agencies, the voluntary sector and others to resolve matters for constituents.

Manage constituency case load, including setting priorities, actively responding to and following up on cases

 

Key responsibilities:

Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues and is aware of trends 
Attend surgeries, tribunals and meetings as appropriate 
Develop knowledge in specialist areas 

Prioritise, manage and progress portfolio of casework appropriately
Ensure all cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken 
Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with the General Data Protection Regulation 
Gather relevant information to resolve or progress cases  and keep constituents informed
Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters 
Provide briefings for the Member 
Research local, regional or national issues to support Member's work 
Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries from constituents, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups 

 

Person specification:

Casework/customer service experience

Excellent organisational skills

An ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision

Excellent written and oral communication

Strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of the impact of language

Excellent IT skills and good administrative skills, including proven ability to keep accurate records

Understanding of data protection/confidentiality

Proven ability to deal patiently and effectively with a range of people and organisations

A desire to problem solve, to make a difference and to identify creative solutions on a wide range of issues

An understanding of and commitment to the role of casework in fulfilling the MP’s responsibilities

Motivated, reliable, dependable, trustworthy, self-confident and resilient

Political acumen

A commitment to Green principles
