This is Carers Week, a chance to recognise the contribution made by carers to our families and communities, and by organisations such as the Carers Centre.
It’s the weekend so a fitting time to post that I’m pledging support for local pubs and brewers and am backing the Election Manifesto of the Campaign for Real Ale.
We’re putting the alternative that none of the other parties want to provide. The alternative to austerity. The alternative to zero hours contracts. The alternative to a rail system that allows private shareholders to profit while passengers pay some of the highest fares in Europe.

We need an education system where everyone gets the same fair chance. That puts the hopes and dreams of young people centre stage and where schools are accountable to parents, teachers and local authorities.
From campaigning against animal testing, to opposing the Coalition’s unscientific and unethical badger cull, Caroline is one of the most passionate defenders of animal protection in British politics.
Caroline has taken a clear and consistent stand for peace, justice and equality. She's committed to finding alternative responses to military intervention and to upholding human rights across the globe.
We all want to live on safe streets, to know support is there if we need it, to feel part of a community. Caroline is promoting progressive, solution-focused ways to make this a reality.
