Caroline is proud to say that lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) rights matter.

That LGBTIQ rights are human rights – rights that should mean equality and freedom, whoever you are and wherever you live.

  • actively campaigned for same-sex marriages
  • lobbied to extend the HPV vaccination programme to men who have sex with men
  • held Brighton and Hove’s police force to account over its work on LGBTIQ hate crime
  • spoken out against homophobic chanting at football matches
  • challenged the NHS’s unfair treatment of trans people
  • fought the way gay men who want to give blood are discriminated against

Caroline is standing up for people living with HIV/AIDS

  • campaigned for full social care provision and workplace rights for people living with HIV/AIDS
  • actively supported the Halve It Coalition to increase diagnosis rates for HIV
  • is continuing to fight against stigma and speaks at events regularly like at ‘You, Me and HIV’, which was held in Brighton in December 2013

Caroline is standing up for LGBTIQ rights across borders

  • called on the European Commission to condemn LGBTIQ oppression in places like Iran, Morocco, Egypt, Bahrain and Honduras
  • demanded the British government offer asylum to those fleeing persecution because of their sexuality or gender identity
  • put pressure on Eastern European countries to fully support LGBTIQ rights, including backing Pride marches
