Christmas card competition

I was particularly impressed by the entry by Oliver Langan at Carden Primary School, which came with its own set of battery-powered lights! In fact, the quality of entries was so high that as well as the winner and three runners-up (whose pictures and names will appear on the back of the card), I’ve chosen another 24 pictures to make a calendar of card pictures to run from the 1st to the 24th December. One of these pictures will feature each day on my Facebook page and in my twitter feed so do look out for some beautiful images over the coming weeks!

The overall competition winner is Charlie Cox in Year 6 at Stanford Junior School, whose picture with the robin in the foreground and Pavilion in the background is posted with this blog. Charlie’s picture captured perfectly several of the elements of this time of year – the skating at the Pavilion, the robin, the snowflakes and the presents under the tree. Many congratulations to him.

Congratulations also go to runners-up Emma McCulloch from the Fiveways Play Centre; William Mackenzie, Year 6 at Westdene Primary School; and Louis Bentley, Year 10 at the Cedar Centre. You can see their pictures posted here on the right.

There are clearly some very talented young artists in constituency and I’m sure their families and friends are extremely proud of them. It’s certainly a privilege for me to have the chance to display their work!
