Britain in Europe - Better for Small Businesses

The referendum on staying in Europe will take place on 23rd June. I believe remaining in the EU is better for Brighton Pavilion, local businesses and the country. It is not a decision I have taken lightly. Of course the EU isn’t perfect – but leaving Europe would put our economic, social and environmental resilience at risk.

Ahead of the referendum, the voice of businesses will be essential to winning this argument, and I am especially keen to reach out to the SMEs that form the backbone of our local economy here in Brighton and Hove.

Being part of Europe allows British companies to grow, innovate and create jobs in their local communities. The EU is our largest customer – buying almost half of what we sell to the rest of the world and businesses across the UK benefit from being able to freely access 500 million customers.

If you agree and your business benefits from our membership of the EU, there are a number of ways that you can help:

1)    Sign up to be a Business Supporter - http://www.strongerin.co.uk/business

2)    Provide a case study -  Share your business story by acting as a case study for the campaign. This simply involves a high resolution photo and a short quote explaining how your business is stronger inside the EU. This could feature on the Britain Stronger in Europe website and other campaign literature, promoting your businesses locally and across the country.

3)    Act as a champion in the local community and in the media - We need businesses like yourselves to promote the benefits of the EU, take part in local events and be active in the local media in the coming months.
