Caroline,
Not being a member of any party, I can't answer the question you pose here directly.
However, although sympathetic to many of the issues you raise about why members might leave Labour, there is one policy area that I find a real obstacle to my personal active participation in the Green Party. I refer to its enthusiastic support for the transformation of our understanding of what constitutes marriage, under the baner of affirming LGBT rights.
Although your summary (on this site) of the Green Party view on this issue does not specifically mention marriage, other video evidence from Peter Tatchell on the Party's YouTube channel explicity states that "The Green Party is the first and only political party committed to ending the ban on same sex marriage".
Could you therefore please
a) clarify whether Peter's video cited above represents current official Green Party policy on LGBT marriage (as distinct from civil partnerships).
b) reflect further on the fact that there are many progressive citizens who might find much that is attractive about Green Party policies except for the party's apparent commitment to redefine the definition of marriage in a way that is altogether novel and, ultimately, oppressive to those who fundamentally disagree with such a re-definition.
Thanks.
